Water Filter Installation Central Coast: Cleaner Water, Better Health

Posted on May 24, 2026

Central Coast mains water meets Australian Drinking Water Guidelines — but that doesn’t mean it tastes great or that everyone is comfortable with what’s in it. Chlorine, chloramine, and trace sediment are common in Central Coast tap water, and households with young children or specific health concerns increasingly choose home filtration. Plumbing Bros installs water filtration systems across the Central Coast with a clean, professional installation and no visible pipework hacks.

Types of water filters we install

  • Under-bench filtration systems — installed in the cabinet below your kitchen sink, connected to a dedicated filtered water tap. Removes chlorine, chloramine, sediment, and some heavy metals. Most popular choice for Central Coast households
  • Whole-house filtration — installed at the point where water enters the house. Filters every tap, shower, and appliance. Ideal for households with skin conditions or those who use rainwater tanks with variable quality
  • Inline fridge filters — connects to the water supply for refrigerators with built-in filtered water and ice makers
  • Rainwater tank treatment — UV sterilisation and sediment filtration for households on rainwater tank supply, common in the Central Coast hinterland and semi-rural areas around Mangrove Mountain and Spencer

What Central Coast water contains

Central Coast water is sourced from Mardi Dam, Mangrove Creek Dam, and Mooney Mooney Dam. It is treated with chlorine for disinfection. The Central Coast Council publishes annual water quality reports showing the treated water meets all health guidelines, but chlorine taste and odour are common consumer complaints. An under-bench carbon filter removes chlorine taste and odour effectively at a low cost.

How much does water filter installation cost on the Central Coast?

  • Basic under-bench filter installation: $180–$350, installation only, with the filter unit varying
  • Premium under-bench reverse osmosis system: $600–$1,200 installed
  • Whole-house sediment and carbon filter: $400–$800 installed
  • UV sterilisation system for rainwater: $500–$1,000 installed
